Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Salas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As far back as I can remember, I have always had a deep love for music! As a kid, I would sit in front of my parents huge Sony stereo system and listen to 8-tracks, records, and the radio. I would spend my allowance money on tapes back in the day and record music for hours off of the radio station. I was always the one at family functions to play the music and try to get people dancing! I would DJ my grandparents’ anniversary parties with two boom boxes, a turntable with a flashlight taped to it (as my light show), and tons of tapes which was hard back then to find the beginning of each song you wanted to play.
It was in 1996 when my best friend and I who also had a profound love of music; decided to lay all the cards on the table and get our first DJ setup. We started out doing small house parties, kids birthday parties, then ventured into the night-club scene which lasted a good 15 years! Along the way, I got asked, “Hey do you do weddings?” I said, “Sure why not!” So, here we are today, 17+ years later, I have rocked hundreds of weddings, Corporate events, Galas, Charities, and still to this day, I perform at small house parties for birthdays. The time has flown by so fast, it seems like just yesterday I was doing my first party. I am blessed to have been a part of so many special weddings; to share that most important day with two people and all of their family and friends. I couldn’t think of anything else I would love to do. My business has grown from just DJ’ing, to now full production sound, wireless up-lighting, photo-booth services and more! I have always said, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life!”
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

When you are trying to build your business up, it’s never smooth. If it was easy, everyone would do it! I still have struggled to this day. Planning a wedding for someone can be very stressful. I constantly have nervous brides that make changes to their timeline all the way up to their wedding day. Song changes, color changes, etc. It can be stressful.
Please tell us about Danny B DJ Company.
My company has come a long way since ’96! Today, I specialize in weddings. Weddings are my go-to for my business. I’m known for all of the services I offer. Everything from full professional sound, MC Services, full room wireless up-lighting, club standard dance lighting, custom Snapchat filters for any event, photo-booth services, and occasionally, wedding day coordinator services. I’ve done it all. What sets me apart from other DJs is I am constantly available and in contact with my clients at any time of the day, no matter what. It’s stressful enough planning your wedding, I don’t want my clients stressed about their DJ not responding to them. What makes me most proud of my company is to look at pictures of where I started, to where I am now. To go thru all the hundreds of invoices and say, “Man, I remember that wedding! That wedding rocked!” Everyone has a dream of what they want to do but they always say, “One day, I will do that”. I believe you can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wouldn’t do anything differently. I truly believe you learn from mistakes, and you learn from experience. I’m glad nothing went smoothly in the early years. I started DJ’ing on belt-driven turntables and carried crates and crates of vinyl to the clubs and parties. I learned the hard way. Everything is digital now and anyone can be a DJ. I am blessed with hard lessons.
